Inspiring civic engagement and strengthening communities through the next generation of leaders.

Strong communities and thriving economies are built on informed, engaged citizens. In Lancaster, a forward-looking initiative is helping young people step into that role—demonstrating how business leaders can play a vital part in strengthening civic life and fostering a culture of participation.
Through its partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the Lancaster Chamber is hosting the National Civics Bee, a nonpartisan program designed to spark curiosity and engagement in civic life. By creating a platform for students to explore how government works and why it matters, the initiative brings civic learning to life in a way that resonates beyond the classroom.
By promoting the program across its membership and community, the Chamber is reinforcing the connection between civic engagement and long-term economic vitality. Families, educators, and businesses all play a role in encouraging participation, creating a shared sense of responsibility and investment in the future. The result is a more informed, connected community—one where the next generation is empowered to lead with purpose.
“When young people understand how they can make a difference, it changes how they see their role in the world. This work is about more than civics—it’s about building a stronger, more connected community where everyone feels a sense of responsibility and possibility.”
